Article posting rules
1. Be very specific with your article topic
Choose a very specific topic, not a general or simple one.
Examples of specific topics that would be acceptable:
- How to turn your part-time hobby making fishing flies into a successful internet business
- How to avoid the top three email marketing mistakes made by 90% of bloggers
- How to manage a full-time day job while building your online business
- The hidden costs of building an online business
- A blog, a squeeze page and a sales page – which is best and why?
- Can you succeed as an affiliate marketer without really trying?
- I want to start a blog – now what? Seven things you must do or you’re wasting your time.
Examples of general topics that are unlikely to be accepted. These types of questions are best answered inside a more specific post from the list above:
- What is internet marketing?
- Why use email marketing?
- What is a blog?
2. Include keywords in the title
A little SEO goes a long way. The title of your article should contain keywords that your readers are likely to type in the search engines when they want to obtain information on the topic you are writing about. If you are writing about the amount of work involved in going from an absolute newbie to a successful blogger making a reasonable income, consider these two title examples.
Good title: The five essential steps for anyone just starting out and wanting to be a successful blogger
This is good because chances are many people are looking for help on the steps to take to become successful.
Not so good title: Five reasons why new bloggers fail
This is not optimized for SEO because people new to the internet marketing/ blogging sphere are most likely upbeat and thinking about success from the outset rather than considering how they might fail. By all means include warnings about traps to avoid but carefully consider your audience and good SEO practices when writing your titles.
3. Research your article – really!
Make sure you access information from a range of sources and not just take an an existing published (or PLR) article and re-write it. Although article spinning is a recognized means of reusing content, it really would be best to avoid it when submitting a your high quality article.
4. Proofread it, check spelling, grammar and layout
We’re not running an article finishing service here. You must make sure grammar, syntax and spelling are done with excellence. Also, write shortish paragraphs of no more than about 75 words in length. Include a couple of H2 sub-headlines and several H3 sub-headlines. It helps break up the text into readable segments. Take a look at the page you are now reading to give you an idea.
If you want to include up to four images zip them and send at the same time you submit your article using the helpdesk. Make them no more than about 10k bytes each in size, jpg format, 300px or less in width/height. Indicate where each one goes in the article.
5. Prove it with data
If you are making a claim – 50% more, 30% less – prove your claim by including verifiable data. If not, be sure to point out that it is your observation or opinion rather than measured data.
6. Interact with the comment thread
You post will receive comments and you are expected to respond to comments as if the post was on your site. This shows that you are a real person and that you are genuine about the topic you posted on. It will also keep people coming back to check on the new latest comment and give you more exposure through links to your blog (comment luv and keyword luv plugins).
