money 3 Survival Tips for Successful Affiliate Marketers

Every affiliate marketer is on the lookout for the best opportunities that give the biggest paychecks. Sometimes they think it is a magic formula that is readily available for them. Actually, it is more complicated than that. It turns out that good, old marketing practices, which have been proven over many years of hard work and dedication, are the best recipe.

There are tactics that have worked before with online marketing and will continue to work in the online affiliate marketing world for years to come. With these top three survival tips, you will be able to able to increase your sales and survive in the affiliate marketing battle zone online.

What are these three tactics?

Tip # 1. Choose a related domain name and set up unique web pages to promote each separate product you are marketing. Do not lump all of it together just to save some money on web hosting. It is best to have a site focusing on a single product or service. Check out this WordPress Cookie Dropper plugin site. The domain name, the articles and the FAQ all relate to the product.

You guessed it. It is not an affiliate site, but the concept is the same. It could easily be an affiliate site with the sales link leading back to the main page of this site. But it does serve as a great example of how you could set up an affiliate sales site. There is plenty of great information for potential buyers to review. No questions are left unanswered. All that is left is for the visitor to do is to buy the product. It could use a video or two though!

Always include product reviews on the website so visitors will have an initial understanding on what the product can do to those who buys them. Add testimonials from users who have already tried the product. Be sure that these customers are more than willing to allow you to use their names and photos on the site of the specific product you are marketing.

Be sure to write unique articles highlighting the uses of the product and include them on the website as additional pages. Make the site attractive and compelling and include calls to act in the articles and reviews. Each headline should encourage the readers to read more or even contact you. Highlight the special points. This will help your readers to learn what the page is about and will want to find out more.

Tip # 2. Offer free reports to your readers. If possible, position them near the top of your page so it they simply cannot be missed. Create autoresponder messages that will be mailed to those who sign up. According to research, a sale is closed usually within seven contacts with a prospect. You might score it in one, you are very likely to score it by the seventh contact. Don’t let your one-time visitors become strangers. Sign them up with a free report – preferably about the product or service you are promoting – and then continue to market to them (not sell!).

Two things are likely to happen with each visitor. Either a sale or the prospect leaves the page and never returns again. By getting them signed up to an autoresponder series and placing useful information in their inboxes regularly, you will remind them of the product they were seeking and you are more likely t to end up with a closed sale, even if it is a few weeks later. Be sure that the content is directed toward specific reasons to buy the product (marketing). Do not make it sound like a sales pitch.

Focus on important points like how the product can make your life easier, give you an extra hour a day, put another $100 in your bank each week, and so on. Include compelling subject lines in the email. As much as possible, avoid using the word “free” because spam filters can dump some of these emails. Convince those who signed up for your free reports that they will be missing something big if they do not take action soon. Do not use hard-sell techniques. These are a big turn off.

Tip # 3. Seek out the type of traffic that is targeted to your product. Consider this. If the person who visited your website has no interest whatsoever in what you are offering, they will be among those who move on and never come back. Write articles for publication in e-zines and e-reports. Locate publications that are focusing on your target customers. What you publish is more likely to grab their interest and send them over to your site.

Try to write a minimum of 2 articles per week of at least 300-600 words in length. By continuously writing and publishing these articles you can generate as many as 100 targeted readers to your site per day.

Always remember that about 1 in every 100 people are likely to buy the product or service you offer. If you generate as many as 1,000 targeted hits for your website in a day, you can make 10 sales, based on the average statistics.

The three tips are not difficult to implement, if you think about it. It just requires a little bit of your time, a decision to act on each one consistently each day, and a vision to be successful. Many affiliate marketers fail due to lack of vision. Keep the vision, whatever it is, foremost in your mind. Do you want to retire in 5 years time, make an extra $1000 a month or simply get a bit of weekly pocket money from your effort? Whatever your vision/target, work diligently towards it for at least 6 months. You will then see that your intentional efforts will start to turn into real cash.

Use these tips for several affiliate marketing programs. You can build a solid source of income and survive in this business if you are smart. There are a lot of failed or stalled affiliate marketers out there. Do not become one of them.

Which one do you think is much better E-mail Marketing or Pay Per Click Advertising? I have tried using both E-mail marketing and PPC Advertising to advertise my products and both seems to do equally well.

  4. Michael says:

Matilda, they each have their merits. The only way to tell is to track the results of your campaigns. PPC is good for getting traffic flowing but you still need good SEO to keep it flowing, as well as incentives to encourage people to sign up … so that email marketing can begin to take over once you have a decent mailing list.

    @ James & Francesca,

Sorry about the delay in getting your comments published. They went to a different queue for some reason.

James, you have a number of options but the best by far would be to participate in a Giveaway event. Better still, host your own if you have the time (and money) to organise it. You would need to get hold of a giveaway script which will cost money, need a domain for hosting and some time to set it up and market it.

I suggest you start with participation in an existing event. Search for “giveaway event +keyword” and put the specific keywords you are targeting.

There are dozens of giveaway events going off at any one time. Just pick one that looks to be of reasonable quality and go for it.

Francesca, forums are great if you have a decent number of participants who are interested in a reasonably narrow range of topics. How have you set up your forum moderators? Finding a good moderator or two can save you many hours reading through posts and keeping the threads on topic and free of spammers.

The new Marketing Secret Weapon makes $xx,xxx.xx a Month in just xx Clicks…http://>>removed<<

I just thought I would let this comment through but with the active links removed or obscured. These are the sorts of offers to be wary of. They will come at you from every angle, tempting you to purchase something for $97 (or whatever) that promises to make a 4, 5, or 6 figure income while you kick back in your sun lounge in the Bahamas, and all on auto-pilot.

This thing is, why do they sell such a system for $97 when, if it works, they could put it into practice and make $xx,xxx per month from it? If you had something that was going to turn over $10,000 (for example) would you (1) Use it yourself or (2) Sell it to others and make $97?

When you are promised massive income for little effort, stop and think before you bury you hard-earned cash in someones pocket. Read about another type of scam in this post about MLM.

  7. Peter from Advertising on Radio says:

Hi thanks for the tips. I guess ill be dropping by your site more often. Anyway, did you know that one of the most overlooked ways to drive traffic to your website is offline advertising? Yes it is. For example, I’ve had great luck with postcards, display ads, classified ads and recently radio advertising, which I am finding very interesting for driving qualified leads to my business.

    • Michael says:

Thanks Peter, I have not thought too much about offline traffic generation. For now, online techniques are driving decent traffic but if I need a boost, I will “click on the cone”. I wonder what the script for an online business strategy blog would sound like. Is it expensive?

For my readers who are following this thread. I am putting the finishing touches on a related post that will be out this week. It expands on some of these ideas – in a sense – and it will add a whole lot of new value to your internet marketing efforts.

    Cheers, Michael
